Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 2026

Our Privacy Commitment

At Try Swiss Knife, we believe your data belongs to you. We're committed to transparency about what we collect and why.

What We Collect

Analytics Data (via Cloudflare Analytics):

  • Anonymous usage statistics (pages visited, referring sites)
  • Device type and browser information
  • General location (country level only)
  • Performance metrics (page load times)

This data is anonymized and cookie-free. It helps us understand how people use our tools so we can make them better.

Account Data (only if you create an account):

  • Your email address
  • Plan data you choose to save to the cloud

We only hold account data if you create an account — see the section below for what we store and why.

What We Don't Do

  • No marketing use of account data: If you create an account, your email address is used to sign you in and send service notices — never for advertising or profiling
  • No personal data storage without an account: If you don't create an account, nothing you create ever leaves your device
  • No selling data: We never sell your data to third parties or advertisers
  • No cross-site tracking: We don't track you across other websites

How Our Tools Work

By default, all your data stays on your device:

  • Trip plans, budgets, study schedules, counters — all stored locally in your browser
  • Nothing you create is sent to our servers unless you explicitly save it to the cloud
  • You can use all tools completely offline after initial load
  • Clear your browser data = all your local tool data is gone (keep backups!)

Accounts & Cloud Data

You can create an account to unlock features like cloud save, cross-device sync, and quick sharing. If you do:

  • What we store: Your email address and any plan data you choose to save to the cloud. If you buy a paid plan, we also store your plan tier, when it expires, and a record of each payment event Paddle sends us — this is what lets your plan work across your devices and lets us help if something goes wrong with a purchase.
  • Why: To provide the account features you signed up for — and potentially more in the future
  • Legal basis: Your explicit consent, given when you create your account
  • Sharing: We never share your account data with third parties. The only exceptions are the service providers we need to run TSK: Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage) and Resend (sending account verification and password reset emails, which means your email address is passed to them). Both act only on our instructions under a data processing agreement, and neither uses your data for their own purposes. Your email is handled in the EU (Ireland). Buying a paid plan is different, and is covered in Payments below — there you are contracting with Paddle directly, so Paddle is not on this list.
  • Retention: Your data is kept until you delete your account. Two exceptions. Resend keeps a log of sent messages, including the recipient address, for 30 days — so a recently sent verification or reset email may still appear there briefly afterwards. And a record of each payment is kept after deletion with the link to your account removed — what was bought, what was paid and when — which we use to understand how the paid plans are doing. Paddle keeps its own record of the sale, as the seller; see Payments below. Separately: a paid plan lets you keep more saved online than the free plan does. If your paid plan ends and you are over the free limit, you have three months to delete or export the extra. After that we may delete it for you. This affects only what you store with us — nothing on your device is touched, and you can always export first. See our Refund Policy.
  • Data controller: Try Swiss Knife (contact@tryswissknife.com)

You can withdraw consent and delete your account at any time from within the app. See Retention above for what survives that, and why.

Payments

Try Swiss Knife does not process payments and never sees your card details.

Paid plans are sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd (Judd House, 18–29 Mora Street, London EC1V 8BT, United Kingdom), acting as merchant of record. When you buy, you are contracting with Paddle. Paddle takes the payment, issues the receipt, and handles the tax.

Paddle collects what it needs to do that — your email address, billing country, and payment details. Their handling of that data is covered by Paddle's privacy policy. The checkout window is Paddle's own surface, and follows Paddle's cookie and privacy terms rather than ours.

What we receive from Paddle. After a successful payment, Paddle tells us:

  • Your email address
  • The country of purchase
  • What was bought and what was paid
  • Identifiers for the transaction and, if you subscribed, the subscription

We never receive card numbers or bank details. We use this only to switch on the plan you paid for, to answer questions about your purchase, and to prevent fraud. We do not use it for marketing.

Paddle keeps its own record of the sale independently of us, because they are the seller and are required to. To ask Paddle to remove your data, contact them at help@paddle.com.

Optional AI Features

Some tools offer an optional AI assistant (e.g. AI trip planning). AI features are opt-in twice over: they require a signed-in account, and each request needs your explicit consent. If you never use them, nothing changes for you.

  • What is sent: Only when you explicitly submit an AI request, the form fields and prompt text shown to you in the preview are sent to Google's Gemini service to generate the result. The preview shows exactly what will be sent — nothing else is included.
  • Third-party processing: Google processes this data under its own terms and may use it to improve its services. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI prompts.
  • What we store: We do not store your prompts or the AI's responses on our servers — only a record of how much AI you have used, so we can keep it within the limit your plan grants, and the time you gave your consent.
  • Withdrawing consent: Untick the consent checkbox in the AI popup at any time — as easy as granting it.

Third-Party Services

Cloudflare Analytics: We use Cloudflare's privacy-first analytics to understand how our tools are used. Unlike traditional analytics, Cloudflare Analytics:

  • Does not use cookies or track individual users
  • Does not collect personal information
  • Provides aggregated, anonymous metrics only
  • Complies with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations by default

Your Rights

  • Local data: Yours entirely — delete it anytime from your browser settings
  • No tracking cookies: No need to opt out of analytics
  • Account holders: You have the right to access, correct, export, or permanently erase your account data at any time — use the account panel inside the app, or contact us
  • Withdraw consent: Delete your account to remove all cloud data and withdraw consent immediately. The record of a payment is kept with the link to your account removed — see Retention above
  • Supervisory authority: If you are in the EU or EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country. Wherever you live, you can also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), which supervises us as a Switzerland-based operator

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this policy if our privacy practices change. Continued use means you accept any updates.
